A report of an armed person in a mental health crisis barricaded in a home prompted a large police response in a neighborhood in Lake Forest.
The Lake Forest Police Department responded around 5:53 p.m. Friday to the 1900 block of South Oak Knoll Drive for a report of a mental health-related incident.
Sources said the incident was reported to involve a domestic battery suspect who was barricaded in a home and possibly armed with a knife.
Officers from Lake Forest, Highland Park, Lake Bluff, Highwood and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call.
The Lake Forest Fire Department was also called to standby in the area after it was reported there were possibly two people inside the home along with the armed subject.
Officers began communicating with the subject with the assistance of the police social worker, police said.
A two-hour standoff ensued before officers were able to take the subject into custody. No charges have been filed.
“At no time was there a threat to the community,” the Lake Forest Police Department said.
No injuries were reported to anyone involved. The subject involved was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
