A man was flown to the hospital with serious injuries after he fell down the staircase at a residence in Cary Monday evening, fire officials said.
The Cary Fire Protection District responded around 7:18 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of Weaver Drive in Cary for a fall victim.
Cary Fire Protection District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said an adult male subject fell down the stairs.
It was initially reported that the man fell down approximately 12 stairs but Vucha said the fall was not witnessed and it was unknown how many he fell down.
The victim was conscious and breathing when paramedics arrived at the scene.
He suffered serious injuries that required a medical helicopter to transport him to a trauma center, Vucha said.
A LifeNet medical helicopter was requested and landed nearby at Mercyhealth Hospital in Crystal Lake.
Vucha said an ambulance transported the man from the scene to the hospital helipad to meet the helicopter.
The helicopter flew the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment.
