A semi dump truck rolled over and spilled dirt onto Route 41, resulting in heavy traffic delays for hours at a busy intersection in Wadsworth Thursday afternoon.

The Newport Fire Protection District and Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 12:20 p.m. Thursday to Route 41 and Route 173 in Wadsworth for a vehicle rollover crash.

Fire crews arrived and reported a semi-truck pulling a dump trailer had rolled over onto its side with heavy damage sustained.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said the truck turned too fast and its load shifted, causing it to roll over.

The truck came to rest in the southbound lanes of Route 41 just south of Route 173.

The driver of the truck had gotten out of the truck prior to emergency crews arriving.
