A joint investigation between law enforcement and the attorney general led to the arrest of a Wonder Lake man accused of possessing and disseminating child sexual abuse material.
Woodstock Police Chief John Lieb said a joint investigation with the Woodstock Police Department, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois Attorney General’s office was launched in June.
Law enforcement learned that David R. Glass, 57, of Wonder Lake, was actively sharing child pornography online, Lieb said.
The investigation of the online activity provided enough information for law enforcement to obtain a search warrant from a judge.
The search warrant was executed on Glass’ residence on Thursday.
Lieb said computer hardware was taken into evidence and child sexual abuse material was located.
The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and approved 20 counts of child pornography, which are Class X and Class 2 felonies.
Glass was arrested following the search and transported to the McHenry County Jail where he is being held pending a detention hearing.
The Woodstock Police Department said they received an extensive amount of investigative assistance from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) on the case.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office provided canine assistance during the execution of the search warrant.
“This investigation, and the resulting arrest, is a testament to the existence of the collaborative and strong working relationships that regional law enforcement officers share in the effort to keep our communities safe,” Lieb said.
