A woman was left in serious condition after she was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle while crossing Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach, officials said.
The Round Lake Beach Police Department and Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District responded around 7:50 p.m. Saturday to the area of Rollins Road and Oak Avenue for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Police said a 45-year-old woman was attempting to cross Rollins Road near the Advance Auto Parts.
She was struck by an unknown vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Rollins Road.
The vehicle did not stop after the crash and fled the area, police said.
The woman, who suffered a head injury, was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Her mother told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that she suffered a brain bleed and was in the intensive care unit.
The woman was stabilized and her condition was reported to be improving as of Tuesday.
The victim’s mother said police have been working hard on the case as the search continues for the suspect.
