A woman in her 20s was transported to the hospital after a school bus and an SUV were involved in a crash on Randall Road in Algonquin, police said.
The Algonquin Police Department and Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded around 3:05 p.m. Monday to the area of Randall Road and Algonquin Road for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.
Algonquin Police Department Sgt. Jason Burzynski said officers found a crash involving two vehicles.
The two vehicles, a Community Unit School District 300 school bus and a Chevrolet SUV, collided in the southbound lanes of Randall Road south of the intersection near the entrance to Home Depot.
The collision resulted in the airbags deploying in the Chevrolet.
Officers learned there were no children on the bus, Burzynski said.
A 22-year-old woman was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley for treatment.
Fire department radio traffic indicated that the injured woman was an aide on the bus.
It was not immediately known which vehicle was at fault or whether any citations were issued.
A request for further information from District 300 was not immediately answered.
