Over a dozen fire departments responded to extinguish a fire that broke out at a home under renovation in Lake Bluff Friday evening, officials said.
The Lake Bluff Fire Department and Lake Bluff Police Department responded around 6:30 p.m. Friday to the 300 block of Hirst Court in Lake Bluff for a report of a structure fire.
Lake Bluff Village Administrator Drew Irvin said a neighbor called 911 to report they saw smoke coming from the roof and eaves of a residence.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and found light smoke showing from the house.
The Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) was activated to the box alarm level to bring additional fire departments from surrounding communities to the scene.
The fire took under an hour to extinguish, Irvin said.
Irvin said the property was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported to any firefighters.
No one was displaced from the house because it was under renovation.
The cause of the fire, which is believed to have possibly started in a bedroom, remains under investigation, Irvin said.
The Lake Forest, North Chicago, Countryside, Mundelein, Deerfield-Bannockburn, Highland Park, Lincolnshire, Lake Villa, Libertyville, Newport, Mundelein, Highland Park, Gurnee and Northbrook fire departments assisted.
