A driver was arrested after crashing their car into an electrical pole and knocking out power for hundreds of residents in Grayslake, officials said.
The Grayslake Fire Protection District and Grayslake Police Department responded around 1:45 a.m. Saturday to Route 120 and Lake Street for a report of a vehicle crash.
Officers arrived to find a red Kia Soul that struck an electrical pole on the southeast corner of the intersection.
The Kia’s airbags deployed and the front end of the vehicle sustained heavy damage.
Grayslake Police Chief Jeff Myhra said the driver was driving under the influence and was arrested.
No injuries were reported in the collision, Myhra said.
ComEd reported the crash had resulted in a power outage affecting approximately 330 ComEd customers.
The outage caused the fire department to receive multiple alarm activations in the area.
Multiple ComEd technicians and an Xfinity technician were called to the scene for repairs.
