Lynda Serrano, 55, of Spring Grove.

A caretaker for an elderly man in Fox Lake has been arrested on numerous charges, including allegedly leaving him on the ground after he had fallen and leaving him stuck on the toilet for hours.

Lynda Serrano, 55, of Spring Grove, was charged with three counts of abuse or neglect of an elderly person and two counts of domestic battery.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said Serrano was the caretaker for a man, who is 80 years old.

Serrano pushed the man, causing him to fall down and suffer bodily harm, the complaint said.

The complaint said Serrano exposed the victim to willful deprivation by leaving him on the ground for extended periods of time after he had fallen.

Serrano also allegedly refused to transport or arrange transport to the hospital for the man when he requested, the complaint said.

The complaint said Serrano would leave the victim stuck on the toilet for up to five hours.

The case was investigated by the Fox Lake Police Department and an arrest warrant was issued for Serrano last month.

She was taken into the custody of the McHenry County Jail on Saturday and released after prosecutors did not file a petition to detain her pending trial.

McHenry County Judge Christopher Harmon ordered Serrano to have no contact with the victim or his residence and to obtain a psychological evaluation within 21 days.

She was also ordered to not possess any dangerous weapons.

A status of preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 15.
