Winthrop Harbor officers assisted in arresting a suspect who led police on a pursuit in a limousine in Pleasant Prairie and then fought with an officer Monday afternoon.

The Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin Police Department said an officer spotted a limousine driving well below the posted speed limit around 3:40 p.m. Monday.

The officer initiated a traffic stop for a registration violation in the 9200 block of Sheridan Road.

The driver sped off and prompted a police pursuit, police officials said.

The limousine attempted to pass other southbound traffic on the shoulder, lost control and crashed into a ditch.

Police officials said the suspect fled from the vehicle and a foot pursuit ensued.

Additional officers from Pleasant Prairie and the Winthrop Harbor Police Department established a perimeter.

The suspect was spotted several blocks away before fleeing into a wooded area.

Pleasant Prairie Police Canine Chase was deployed to track the suspect and officers closed in on his location, police officials said.

An officer found the suspect hiding in the woods and called for assistance.

The suspect engaged the officer in a physical fight and he bit the officer.

Canine Chase was deployed and successfully subdued the suspect with a bite to the arm.

The suspect was taken into custody by officers without further incident. No officers were injured during the arrest.

A search of the vehicle resulted in methamphetamine and other items consistent with drug dealing being located, police officials said.

The suspect was identified as Bradley R. Semrich, 37, of Portage, Wisconsin.

Bradley was transported by rescue personnel to a local hospital for evaluation prior to being transported to the Kenosha County Jail.

Officers learned that Bradley had multiple outstanding warrants and is a convicted felon.

Bradley was transported to the Kenosha County Jail where he was charged with fleeing and eluding, battery to an officer, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, resisting an officer, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, carrying a concealed knife by a felon and felony bail jumping.

The Pleasant Prairie Police Department thanked the Winthrop Harbor Police Department for assisting with taking the suspect into custody.

“This is an example of the outstanding work and dedication our officers perform daily while serving our communities,” police officials said.
