A structure fire in Buffalo Grove left a home uninhabitable and caused $360,000 in damages Thursday evening, authorities said.

Buffalo Grove firefighters were dispatched to 970 Lucinda Drive for a reported structure fire at 7:16 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.

While firefighters were en route to the location, Buffalo Grove police arrived at the scene and reported smoke from inside the house.

Authorities upgraded the alarm for additional assistance, authorities said.

Upon arrival, Buffalo Grove firefighters saw heavy smoke showing on the second floor, prompting them to perform an aggressive interior attack, authorities said.

Firefighters confirmed all occupants were out of the house and brought the fire under control within approximately 15 minutes, authorities said.

One of the home’s occupants was transported to Northwest Community Hospital for medical, non-life-threatening reasons, authorities said.

The building department was notified and the house was deemed uninhabitable, authorities said.

Firefighters and police remained on the scene until just after midnight checking to ensure no hot spots existed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Buffalo Grove Fire and Police Departments and the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office.
