One person received serious injuries after a personal watercraft ran into a pier in Cary Friday evening, authorities said.

Cary Fire Protection District rescuers were called to a water rescue on the Fox River near the 2500 block of Grove Lane after the SeaDoo collided with a residential boat pier at 4:08 p.m., said Cary Fire Protection District spokesman Alex Vucha.

Vucha said initial reports were that a male patient was unconscious in the water following the crash.

Upon arrival, paramedics found the male had regained consciousness and was near the shore, Vucha said.

Paramedics removed the patient from the water, transferred him to an awaiting ambulance, and transported him to Mercyhealth Hospital – Crystal Lake.
