The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced the Canadian National Railway is scheduled to repair a railroad crossing on Illinois Route 176 (Maple Avenue) east of U.S. Route 45 (Lake Street) in Mundelein starting at 9 a.m. Sept. 20.

The construction will require full closure of the crossing through 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, weather permitting.

A detour will direct motorists to use U.S. 45, Butterfield, and Winchester roads as alternates.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow for longer-than-expected travel times through the intersection and on the various detour roads.

IDOT is urging drivers to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be alert for construction workers and equipment, officials said.
