A Chicago man is wanted after he allegedly sent an email threatening to blow up a social services center in McHenry in June, police said.

Gregory L. Hubbs, 37, of Chicago, was charged with disorderly conduct, a Class 3 felony.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Hubbs transmitted a threat toward the Pioneer Center for Human Services in McHenry on June 15.

The complaint said Hubbs stated he would blow up a Pioneer Center building on June 17 — two days later.

The complaint said Hubbs knew at the time that there were no reasonable grounds to believe that such a bomb was concealed at a Pioneer Center facility.

McHenry Police Department Public Affairs Officer Ashley O’Herron said the threat was transmitted by email.

Investigators were able to link Hubbs as the suspect through their investigation. O’Herron said the suspect has “some fringe connection” with the facility.

O’Herron said the threat was deemed not credible.

The Pioneer Center is a private, non-profit charitable organization that helps individuals challenged by developmental disabilities, behavioral health issues and homelessness, according to the organization’s website.

Pioneer Center CEO Frank Samuel said Hubbs received services from the center over five years ago. “I do not know why he did this,” Samuel said.

Court records show a warrant was issued for Hubbs on Wednesday. The warrant remains active as of Monday.
