A driver was injured after he rolled over his semi-truck and spilled sand onto the roadway along Route 23 in Marengo Monday morning, authorities said.
Theย Marengo Fire & Rescue District and Marengo Police Department responded around 5:57 a.m. Monday to the area of Route 23 and Harmony Road for a report of a rollover crash.
Marengo Fire & Rescue District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said it was reported that a semi-truck overturned at the roundabout.
First responders arrived and found the semi-truck lying on its side blocking the roundabout.
The truck was hauling sand, which spilled onto the roadway as a result of the rollover crash, Vucha said.
Crews assessed the situation and determined that no other vehicles were involved.
Vucha said the adult male driver of the truck suffered minor injuries in the incident.
He was transported by ambulance to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin for further evaluation.
A heavy-duty wrecker service was called to the scene to upright the semi-truck and clear the sand from the roadway, Vucha said.
The area was cleared and reopened to traffic around 8 a.m. and no further disruptions were reported.
The Marengo Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
