The FBI says they are investigating after a suspect robbed a Chase Bank branch in Barrington and escaped the area Tuesday afternoon.
The Barrington Police Department and FBI Chicago Field Office responded around 1 p.m. Tuesday to Chase Bank, 136 West Northwest Highway in Barrington, for a report of a bank robbery.
Officers arrived and confirmed a bank robbery had occurred. No injuries were reported.
The suspect, a male black in his 20s, entered the bank and verbally demanded funds from a teller, the FBI said.
The suspect, described as being 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 with a thin build, did not display any weapons or imply he had any.
He fled the bank before officers arrived. The FBI did not disclose the amount of money stolen.
The FBI said the suspect was wearing a black long-sleeve hooded sweatshirt or jacket, black baggy sweatpants or jeans and blue gym shoes with white shoelaces and soles.
He was also wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses and a dark facial covering — possibly gaiter-style.
The suspect remains at large as of Wednesday and the FBI said further information on the case was not available for release.
Investigators were seen canvassing the area for surveillance video Tuesday afternoon as they investigated.
