UPDATE: The girl has been located safe in Chicago, according to her mother.

A mother is asking for the public’s help in locating her 16-year-old daughter who went missing from a home in Waukegan and may be endangered.

Zaniah Holmon, 16, of Waukegan, went missing from her grandmother’s home on Alta Vista Drive on Waukegan’s north side.

She was last seen around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Holmon was reported missing to the Waukegan Police Department, which is investigating.

The child’s mother, Briana Holmon, told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that her daughter is believed to have snuck out of the home.

Briana Holmon said her daughter has never gone missing before.

The girl suffers from anxiety and depression and takes medication.

“She becomes suicidal when she doesn’t have those meds,” Briana Holmon said.

Zaniah Holmon brought her cell phone with her when she left the home. Her last known location was in Chicago, according to phone tracking data.

The mother said she last saw her daughter wearing a matching set of blue and green pajamas but it is unknown what she is currently wearing.

The Chicago Police Department is assisting in the search. Anyone with information should contact their local police department.
