A teenager was flown to the hospital with serious injuries after he crashed into a parked car while riding on an electric bike in Wonder Lake.
The Wonder Lake Fire Protection District responded around 10 a.m. Sunday to the 9400 block of Creekside Drive in Wonder Lake for a report of a crash with injuries.
Wonder Lake Fire Chief Mike Weber said crews arrived to find a teenage boy who was suffering from multiple injuries throughout his body.
The 17-year-old was riding on an electric bike and failed to negotiate a corner while traveling too fast, Weber said.
The bike struck the rear of a parked SUV and the victim collided with the rear window before falling to the ground.
The vehicle sustained substantial damage.
Weber said a LifeNet medical helicopter was called and landed across the street in a soccer field.
The boy was transferred to the helicopter from an ambulance and flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Weber said the boy suffered serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
