A woman was transported to the hospital after she was wounded in a shooting outside in a residential area in North Chicago Saturday evening, officials said.
The North Chicago Police Department and North Chicago Fire Department responded around 8:50 p.m. Saturday to the area of Spruce Drive and Mulberry Boulevard for a report of a shooting.
A 911 caller reported a woman had been shot in the arm and they were applying pressure to the wound.
Officers arrived on the scene and confirmed the scene was secure for the fire department to proceed.
Officers found her in the 2600 block of Spruce Drive.
City officials said the woman was struck by gunfire while on the sidewalk and suffered a hand injury.
Paramedics transported the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment.
The woman’s condition was stabilized and she was later released from the hospital, city officials said.
No suspects are in custody and the investigation remains ongoing by the North Chicago Police Department.
