A Vernon Hills man was among 3 victims after police say four masked suspects robbed the victims by force while pointing guns at them in the parking lot of a casino in Des Plaines.

The Des Plaines Police Department said the armed robbery occurred at Rivers Casino, 3000 South River Road, around 1:45 a.m. Monday.

Officers responded to the casino after a 38-year-old Palatine woman called 911 to report that four males armed with firearms attempted to steal her vehicle.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the woman, her husband and two friends were exiting the casino, police officials said.

The four were walking towards the woman’s vehicle, a 2018 white Jeep Grand Cherokee, when she observed a male subject wearing a full-face cover in her vehicle.

The woman reported seeing three additional suspects, all males armed with firearms and wearing full-face covers, police said.

One suspect was standing at the front of the Jeep holding a firearm and the other two were seated in a silver Volvo parked just to the north of the Jeep.

The woman’s husband, a 40-year-old Palatine man, attempted to approach the driver’s side of the Jeep.

One of the suspects in the parked Volvo flashed a firearm at him and told him to stay away, police said.

The couple began walking away from their vehicle to call the police when the suspect exited the Jeep, ran towards the husband and pointed the firearm at his face.

Police said the suspect forcefully removed a silver necklace from his neck.

The suspect then approached one of the couple’s friends, a 28-year-old Vernon Hills man, and pointed the firearm at him before ripping a silver necklace from his neck.

The suspect ran towards the Volvo, re-entered the vehicle with his accomplices and fled the scene.
