A child was flown to the hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed during a fight in Wonder Lake and a second juvenile, who is the suspect, has been charged.

The Wonder Lake Police Department, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Wonder Lake Fire Protection District responded around 6:08 p.m. Tuesday to the 3800 block of East Wonder Lake Road for a report of a stabbing.

Police officials said first responders found a juvenile who had suffered injuries from an “edged weapon.”

An ambulance transported the victim, who was reported to be a teenager, to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry.

The boy was later flown by a medical helicopter to Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation showed that a fight took place between two juvenile boys, police officials said.
