No injuries were reported after an electrical fire caused damage to a garage attached to a home in Lake in the Hills Thursday evening, fire officials said.
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District and Lake in the Hills Police Department responded around 6:47 p.m. Thursday to the 500 block of Bernyce Street in Lake in the Hills for a report of a structure fire.
Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District Deputy Chief Matt Berg said firefighters arrived in under three minutes.
They found a single-story home with smoke coming from an attached garage.
Berg said all occupants of the home safely evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival.
Fire crews initiated an aggressive fire attack on the structure and located a fire in the garage, Berg said.
The fire was brought under control in 10 minutes and crews remained on the scene completing overhaul, addressing hotspots and conducting an investigation.
Berg said the investigation determined the cause of the fire was electrical in nature.
The home remains habitable and a damage estimate was not immediately available.
The Carpentersville Fire Department, Huntley Fire Protection District, Crystal Lake Fire-Rescue Department and Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District responded to assist.
