A man was flown to the hospital after he was seriously injured in an electric scooter accident in Woodstock Sunday evening, fire officials said.
The Woodstock Police Department and Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded around 5:40 p.m. Sunday to the area of Route 14 and Doty Road in Woodstock for a report of a crash with injuries.
Woodstock Fire/Rescue Districts Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said it was reported that a male victim was down on the ground after an apparent electric scooter accident.
Paramedics arrived shortly after and located the man still on the ground on the westbound shoulder of Route 14 just west of Doty Road.
The electric scooter was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
A LifeNet medical helicopter was requested due to the severity of the victim’s injuries, Vucha said.
An ambulance transported the man nearby to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Woodstock.
Vucha said the helicopter landed at the hospital’s helipad and the patient was transferred to the helicopter.
The LifeNet helicopter flew the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries.
