The sheriff says a Hebron man was seriously injured and flown to the hospital after he was ejected from his motorcycle during a crash near Harvard.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 11:40 a.m. Friday to the area of Hebron Road west of Willow Lakes Road in unincorporated Harvard for a serious motorcycle crash.
A preliminary investigation shows that a 1983 Honda Motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Hebron Road, according to the sheriff’s office.
The operator of the Honda, a 30-year-old Hebron man, lost control of the motorcycle for unknown reasons.
Sheriff’s officials said the Honda went down on the pavement and the man was ejected from the motorcycle.
The motorcycle and operator slid on the roadway before coming to rest on the pavement.
Family members of the victim transported the man to Mercyhealth Hospital and Medical Center in Harvard.
He was later flown to Mercyhealth Javon Bea Hospital โ Riverside in Rockford. The man is listed in serious but stable condition.
Investigators believe speed and driving experience are believed to be factors in the crash.
The driver was not wearing a helmet and there are no indications of impairment, sheriff’s officials said.
Hebron Road was shut down between Route 14 and Willow Lakes Road for several hours on Friday afternoon.
The investigation remains ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriffโs Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit.
