No one was injured after a bedroom caught on fire and sent flames out of a townhome in Lindenhurst Thursday afternoon.
The Lake Villa Fire Protection District, Lindenhurst Police Department, Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District, Grayslake Fire Protection District, Antioch Fire Department and Newport Township Fire Protection District responded around 12:50 p.m. Thursday to the 2300 block of Neubauer Circle in Lindenhurst for a report of a structure fire.
Firefighters arrived and found smoke and fire coming from a bedroom of one of the townhouse units.
A fire engine from the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District was the first fire suppression apparatus to arrive on the scene because other apparatus was delayed due to multiple medical calls in the fire district, Lake Villa Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Jay Vance said at the scene.
Firefighters pulled a hose line and quickly attacked the fire, bringing it under control in around 10 minutes upon arrival.
The residents of the townhouse unit, including one dog, were able to escape unharmed, Vance said.
No one else was injured.
Firefighters searched the townhouse unit to confirm no one else was inside, Vance said.
They remained on the scene to ventilate smoke out of the townhouse and conduct overhaul operations.
The townhouse unit next to the one that caught on fire sustained little to no damage, Vance added.
A damage estimate or cause of fire was not immediately available as the fire remains under investigation.
Late last month, the deck of another townhouse caught on fire in the 3400 block of Neubauer Circle, which is just up the street from Thursday’s fire.
