A man and a woman were injured after a pickup truck drove off of the road and crashed into a house in Antioch, leaving the home uninhabitable, fire officials said.

The Antioch Fire Department responded around 4:33 p.m. Friday to the 300 block of North Avenue in Antioch for a report of a car into a building.

Antioch Fire Department Battalion Chief Joe DuShane said an elderly couple was driving in a pickup truck eastbound on North Avenue from Main Street.

The male driver began having a coughing spell and he passed out while driving, DuShane said.

The pickup truck veered off of the roadway and crashed into a home on the southeast corner of North Avenue and Dwight Court.

DuShane said people were inside the home on the first and second floors when the crash occurred. They evacuated and were uninjured.

Police officers and firefighters assisted the female passenger out of the heavily damaged truck.

The female passenger and the male driver were both transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, DuShane said. They had non-life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters had to stabilize the house before a tow truck pulled the truck out of the home, which sustained damage to the foundation and framing.

A board-up company was called to the scene, DuShane said.

The house was deemed uninhabitable for the family of four.
