Firefighters battled two separate house fires in 24 hours, including one that left displaced five residents, in Huntley this weekend, fire officials said.
The Huntley Fire Protection District responded around 6:40 p.m. Friday to the 10500 block of Haverhill Lane in Huntley for a report of a structure fire.
Fire crews arrived and found heavy smoke coming from the garage, fire officials said.
No one was home at the time. Firefighters forced entry into the garage and located and extinguished the fire.
Fire officials said the damage was contained to the garage and no injuries were reported.
Less than 24 hours later,ย the Huntley Fire Protection District responded around 5:52 p.m. Saturday to the 10900 block of Heartland Lane in Huntley for a report of a structure fire.
Firefighters arrived within four minutes to find heavy smoke and flames engulfing the rear of the home.
The fire had quickly spread into the attic and strong winds accelerated the fire’s intensity, fire officials said.
Crews battled the fire from both the interior and exterior before bringing it under control in 20 minutes.
Fire officials said the home was deemed uninhabitable and the five occupants are receiving assistance from friends and family members.
Damage assessments are ongoing and no injuries were reported.
The cause of both fires remains under investigation by the Huntley Fire Protection District.
