No injuries were reported after firefighters quickly extinguished a fire that damaged a house in McHenry Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded around 3:30 p.m. Sunday to the 300 block of Whitmore Trail in McHenry for a report of a structure fire.
McHenry Township Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Ryan Mastandrea said firefighters arrived within four minutes to find smoke showing from the rear of a home.
All residents were out of the two-story, single-family residence before firefighters arrived.
Fire crews found a small exterior fire on the back of the home, Mastandrea said.
Firefighters deployed a hose line to the rear of the house to extinguish the fire.
A search was simultaneously conducted inside the house.
Mastandrea said the fire was deemed under control within 10 minutes. There were no resident or firefighter injuries.
Firefighters remained on the scene until approximately 5 p.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and a damage estimate was not immediately available, Mastandrea said.
The Fox Lake and Crystal Lake fire departments covered McHenry fire stations during the incident.
