The Harvard Fire Protection District responded around 11:10 a.m. Monday to Harvard High School, 1103 North Jefferson Street, for an unconscious person call.
Harvard Fire Protection District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said it was reported that a teenager suffered a traumatic head injury.
The incident occurred while the teenager was playing in a football game on the school’s football field.
Harvard’s junior varsity team was playing Marengo High School.
Vucha said paramedics arrived and assessed the teenage boy, who was conscious at the scene.
A Mercyhealth REACT medical helicopter was requested and landed at the Mercyhealth Harvard Hospital helipad.
The teenager was flown to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for further evaluation and treatment due to the nature of the injuries.
