The Lake County Sheriff’s Office announced that one of its canines, Zeus, has taken first place and received two other awards while participating in a regional canine event.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that Canine Zeus and Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Harris recently attended the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) Region 19 – PD1 Regionals.

The event was held in Milford, Michigan, from last Thursday to Monday.

The “prestigious event” tested canine teams, including Zeus and Harris, in various skills.

The sheriff’s office said they were proud to announce that Zeus brought home several impressive awards.

Zeus placed first overall in the cadaver detector category. He also placed second overall in the patrol dog 1 category, which involves obedience, suspect search and criminal apprehension.

Zeus also took third place overall in tracking.

“We are incredibly proud of K9 Zeus, Deputy Harris, and their dedication to keeping our community safe!” the sheriff’s office said.
