Authorities say a Waukegan man was killed after he was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross Belvidere Road in Park City late Saturday evening.

The Gurnee Fire Department and Park City Police Department responded around 11:36 p.m. Saturday to the 3200 block of Belvidere Road in Park City for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Officers arrived and learned a 2016 Honda was traveling eastbound on Belvidere Road, according to Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek.

The Honda, which was in the outside lane, struck a male pedestrian. The car stopped in the center median.

Banek said the pedestrian was wearing all dark clothing and appeared to be crossing the street at the time of the crash.

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was requested to assist with the investigation due to the severity of the crash.

An autopsy was conducted at the Lake County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday on Crockett and the results showed he died from blunt force injuries from the collision.

The crash remains under investigation by the Park City Police Department and MCAT.
