The sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help in locating a 16-year-old girl who went missing from her home near Waukegan two weeks ago.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday they are searching for Zaniah Holmon, 16, of Waukegan.

Holmon was last seen leaving her house on Nemesis Avenue unincorporated Waukegan.

It is believed she is with a friend in the Chicagoland area, the sheriff’s office said.

The child’s mother, Briana Holmon, told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that her daughter is believed to have snuck out of the home. She was last seen on October 4.

Holmon said her daughter left her cell phone at home.

Holmon tried calling the girl’s boyfriend and he has not answered.

The girl suffers from anxiety and depression and takes medication.

Holmon is described as 5-foot-4, 150 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
