Authorities say a woman was transported to the hospital after she crashed her SUV through a dental office in Deerfield before coming to a stop inside the building.

The Deerfield Police Department and Northbrook Fire Department responded around 6 p.m. Thursday to 707 Lake Cook Road in Deerfield for a report of a car that struck the building.

Northbrook Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Morris said crews arrived and located a car that was all the way inside the building.

No one was inside the dental office when the SUV crashed into the suite.

Morris said it appeared the car was on the north side of Lake Cook Road and struck a street light.

The SUV came up an embankment through the office building parking lot before striking the building, Morris said.

Morris said the female driver was able to self-extricate herself from the vehicle.

She suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Endeavor Health Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview. No one else was injured in the crash.

The car was pulled out of the structure, which appeared to have sustained heavy damage, by a tow truck and towed away on a flatbed.

The car’s gas tank ruptured during the incident and gasoline leaked from Lake Cook Road and into the parking lot of the office building, Morris said.

Gasoline also leaked into the office building after the car came to a stop. Morris said firefighters used oil dry to soak up the spilled gasoline.

The cause of the crash was being investigated by the Deerfield Police Department.
