A fire engulfed a porch attached to a home before spreading to the house, leaving the residence uninhabitable, in Lake in the Hills Sunday evening, fire officials said.
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District and Lake in the Hills Police Department responded around 6:35 p.m. Sunday to the 600 block of Willow Street in Lake in the Hills for a report of a structure fire.
Firefighters arrived to find a single-story, single-family home with a front porch that was fully engulfed in flames, fire officials said.
Fire crews operated two hose lines and began an aggressive attack on the fire from the outside.
Fire officials said the fire was quickly extinguished and crews began overhaul operations to ensure no hidden fire remained.
The residents escaped the home. There were no injuries to any residents or firefighters.
The residents were displaced after the home was deemed uninhabitable, fire officials said.
The Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District, Cary Fire Protection District, Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department, Fox River Grove Fire Protection District and Huntley Fire Protection District assisted.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.
