
Three people were arrested after a report of an armed kidnapping in North Chicago led to a police pursuit that ended in a crash in Chicago late Monday evening.
The Illinois State Police said troopers located a vehicle involved in a possible armed kidnapping around 10:45 p.m. Monday.
The kidnapping was reported out of Lake County in North Chicago.
The female victim was being tracked by her Apple iPhone, according to police radio traffic.
State police said a traffic stop was initiated but the gray Mazda sedan failed to stop on southbound Interstate 94 north of Dundee Road near Northbrook.
A pursuit ensued and traversed streets in Chicago’s north side along Interstate 90. Police air units also assisted in tracking the vehicle.
The pursuit ended at the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Diversey Avenue in Chicago, state police said.
The front end of the Mazda struck the front end of another vehicle. Minor injuries were reported in the crash.
State police said three people ran from the Mazda and were all taken into custody a short time later.
Two of the three suspects were arrested in the 3400 block of West Parker Avenue. One of them was tasered by a police officer.
All three were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
