Police say a motorcyclist was cited for reckless driving after he caused a crash involving an SUV that left him injured in Barrington Monday evening.
The Barrington Police Department and Barrington Fire Department responded around 5:20 p.m. Monday to the area of South Hough Street and Coolidge Avenue in Barrington for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.
A 911 caller reported a motorcyclist was down on the ground and bleeding.
Barrington Police Chief David Daigle said officers arrived and found the motorcyclist, German De La Torre Robles of Mundelein, injured.
Paramedics transported him to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington for treatment. He has since been released.
An investigation showed De La Torre Robles was driving his motorcycle northbound on Hough Street in stop-and-go traffic, Daigle said.
Daigle said the motorcycle was passing stopped northbound vehicles by veering into and traveling northbound in the southbound lane.
A Mercedes G-Wagen, which was ahead of the motorcycle, turned left from northbound Hough Street onto westbound Coolidge Avenue.
The motorcycle struck the Mercedes on the driver’s side of the vehicle, Daigle said. The driver of the Mercedes was uninjured.
De La Torre Robles was issued citations for reckless driving, no proof of insurance and no vehicle registration.
He is scheduled to appear in court on November 12.
