Police say one person suffered life-threatening injuries after a three-vehicle crash that shut down an intersection on the border of Libertyville and Mundelein Friday morning.

The Libertyville Police Department and Libertyville Fire Department responded around 11:46 a.m. Friday to the intersection of Winchester Road and Butterfield Road in Libertyville.

Libertyville Police Department Sgt. Dusan Racic said officers received a report of a multi-vehicle crash with injuries.

Officers arrived to find a crash involving a Chevrolet SUV, a NAPA Auto Parts van and a UPS box truck.

The van sustained heavy damage after it appeared to have been t-boned by the UPS truck.

Racic said an occupant from one of the vehicles was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was called to the scene to conduct a full crash investigation.

The intersection of Butterfield Road and Winchester Road has been completely shut down for several hours. It remained closed as of 3:30 p.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Libertyville Police Department and MCAT, Racic said.
