A 26-year-old Wauconda man was cited for causing a crash that left a bicyclist injured in Crystal Lake Wednesday.

Crystal Lake Police were called to Walkup Avenue and Main Street at about 1:09 p.m. Wednesday for a crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist.

The preliminary investigation showed the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on Walkup Avenue at Main Street when a vehicle traveling northbound on Main Street struck the bicyclist, authorities said.

The rider of the bicycle was flown via helicopter with non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash. Police said the helicopter transport was for precautionary reasons.

The driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

The driver of the car was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed. A portion of Main Street was shut down for about two hours while emergency crews worked on the scene.
