No injuries were reported but two vehicles were damaged following a structure collapse at the Shell Gas Station in the 200 block of Virginia Street Thursday night, authorities said.
Crystal Lake Police responded to the Shell Gas Station at about 8:37 p.m. on October 31 for the collapsed gas station canopy.
Authorities said the canopy covering the gas pumps fell over and struck two vehicles.
Only one of the two vehicles was occupied when the canopy fell, but the people in the vehicle were not injured.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the structure was not struck by anything before the collapse and initial indicators are that weather contributed to the collapse, authorities said.
This event remains under investigation by the Crystal Lake Police Department.
