No injuries were reported but a townhome was severely damaged in an early morning fire in McHenry Friday.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District was dispatched to the 1100 block of Armistead Lane in McHenry for aย report of a fire in a townhouse at approximately 1:10 a.m. Friday, authorities said.

Fire companies arrived within seven minutes to find fire venting from the two-car garage of an occupied two-story, multiple-family dwelling.

Crews initiated an aggressive interior fire attack while searching for occupants within the fire unit.

Additional crews also checked adjacent units for fire extension, authorities said.

Occupants home at the time of the fire were able to escape the blaze without injury prior to the arrival of the fire companies.

Smoke detectors were present and operational in the unit at the time of the fire.

The unit was deemed uninhabitable, authorities said.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District activated a MABAS to the Box Level, bringing in fire companies from Cary, Crystal Lake, Fox Lake, Nunda, Wonder Lake, and Woodstock Fire Departments to the scene.

Additional agencies also filled McHenry firehouses and answered several additional emergencies while crews battled the blaze, authorities said.

The fire remains under investigation and the cause remains undetermined.
