A Wauconda man killed in a tragic car accident earlier this week is described as a beloved husband, father, brother, and son by family members seeking financial help through a GoFundMe site.
Carlos Zamora, 37, died as a result of blunt force injuries from a vehicle crash at 1:10 p.m. Monday in the area of West Grass Lake Road and Broadway Avenue in unincorporated Antioch, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
Family members have created a GoFundMe account, seeking help for “financial support for his family to relieve some of the burden they are enduring.”
The statement on the GoFundMe account said all support would go towards his wife and children for school supplies, medical expenses, therapy expenses, cost of living, and funeral arrangements.
Zamora was survived by his wife, Roxanna, and four children aged 15 to 1.
“Carlos loved his family very much and would have given the world for them,” the GoFundMe post reads. “His family, siblings, and parents are torn by his absence and would greatly appreciate any support for his children.”
The coroner released Zamora’s identity after he died in a rollover crash that left his truck destroyed near Antioch Monday afternoon.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Antioch Fire Protection District responded to the scene and located a single-vehicle crash involving a heavily damaged GMC Sierra, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli.
A preliminary investigation shows the GMC, driven by Zamora, was traveling westbound on Grass Lake Road when it left the roadway for an unknown reason.
The GMC struck a utility pole and rolled over, Covelli said. The pole and wires were brought down.
Zamora was removed from the vehicle by bystanders when emergency crews arrived, Covelli said.
He suffered critical injuries and a LifeNet medical helicopter was requested.
Zamora was in too unstable of a condition to be flown when the helicopter arrived.
The medical helicopter crew assisted paramedics in the ambulance ground transporting him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Covelli said Zamora died at the hospital from his injuries.
Grass Lake Road was shut down for several hours into Monday evening while the crash was investigated.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriffโs Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
