A dryer caught on fire and damaged the first floor of a house in Buffalo Grove Monday afternoon, leaving the residents displaced, fire officials said.

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded around 1:46 p.m. Monday to the 60 block of Park Avenue for a report of a dryer on fire.

Fire companies arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the house.

Firefighters initiated an aggressive attack on the fire by stretching a hose line into the home to extinguish the fire, fire officials said.

Firefighters also conducted searches for any occupants that were still inside.

They found a fire coming from the dryer and spreading into the first-floor laundry room.

Fire officials said the fire was quickly extinguished and no occupants were found inside the house.

There were no injuries reported and the house was deemed uninhabitable due to smoke damage.
