Two people were transported to the hospital after a multiple-vehicle crash left a pickup truck rolled over on Interstate 94 near Gurnee Thursday afternoon.

The Illinois State Police, Libertyville Fire Department and Gurnee Fire Department responded around 4:22 p.m. Thursday to Interstate 94 south of Route 120 in Gurnee for a vehicle crash with injuries.

State troopers arrived and reported three vehicles involved in the crash, which occurred in the westbound lanes of Interstate 94 near the 11.5-mile marker.

One of the vehicles, a maroon Chevrolet pickup truck, rolled over onto its roof. A Dodge Ram pickup truck and a white Jeep SUV were also involved.

Everyone was able to get out of the vehicles on their own, troopers reported.

Minor injuries were reported and two people were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Lanes 1, 2 and 3 of westbound Interstate 94 were shut down due to the vehicles blocking the highway.

Tow trucks were called to the scene to remove all three vehicles. All lanes were reopened by 5:25 p.m.

A spokesperson for Illinois State Police said further information regarding the cause of the crash was not immediately available because the crash report had not been completed yet.

Shortly prior to the crash, another separate crash with injuries occurred nearby on Interstate 94 just south of Route 132 in Gurnee.
