A child was among four people injured and transported to the hospital after a four-vehicle crash involving a dump truck near Antioch Tuesday morning, officials said.
The Antioch Fire Protection District and Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday to Route 59 and Grass Lake Road in unincorporated Antioch for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.
Antioch Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Ryan Keefe said four vehicles were involved in the crash.
The vehicles, which included a dump truck and three passenger cars, sustained moderate to heavy damage.
None of the occupants of the vehicles required extrication, Keefe said.
Three ambulances โ two from Antioch and one from Lake Villa โ were called to the scene.
Paramedics transported three adults and a child to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
“It could’ve been a heck of a lot worse but luckily it was not,” Keefe said.
Tow trucks were called to remove all four vehicles from the scene.
Keefe said traffic was impacted for approximately 45 minutes due to the crash, which occurred in the middle of the intersection.
Fire crews also cleaned up leaking oil and coolant from some of the cars.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office was investigating the cause of the crash.
