A 50-year-old man suffered serious injuries after he crashed an ATV while riding on an off-road course behind a residential property near Barrington.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department responded around 1 p.m. Saturday to the 26800 block of West Route 22 in unincorporated Barrington for multiple 911 calls of an ATV crash with injuries.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said a rider was operating a Polaris 1000 ATV.

The rider, a 50-year-old McHenry man, was driving on an off-roading course in the rear of the property.

The driver, who is experienced in operating ATVs, went over a jump and the ATV rolled backward, Covelli said Wednesday.

The man was thrown off of the back of the ATV and part of the ATV landed on his face.
