Residents were uninjured but left displaced from their home after a fire damaged a house near Antioch Wednesday afternoon, fire officials said.
The Antioch Fire Protection District responded around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 40100 block of North Lakeview Avenue in unincorporated Antioch for a report of a structure fire.
Antioch Fire Protection District Deputy Chief Jim Cook said firefighters arrived and found smoke showing from a single-story ranch home.
Firefighters made entry to the residence and extinguished the fire, which was located in a bedroom.
The occupants were found safe outside, Cook said.
There were no reports of injuries to residents or firefighters.
Cook said the residents were displaced after the home was deemed uninhabitable.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and a damage estimate was not immediately available.
The Spring Grove, McHenry, Newport, Salem Lakes and Grayslake fire departments assisted during the incident.
