Joshua Garcia, 31, of Antioch.

An Antioch man, who is a convicted felon, was sentenced to six years in prison after a SWAT team arrested him during a high-risk warrant that netted drugs in Antioch.

The Antioch Police Department said they assisted the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group around 6 a.m. on February 23, 2023.

Police conducted a high-risk narcotics search warrant in the 1000 block of Main Street in Antioch.

Main Street was shut down during the execution of the warrant by the SWAT team for the safety of residents, then-Village of Antioch Communication Manager Jim Moran said.

Moran said officers recovered Perc-30 counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl, along with methamphetamine, LSD, ammunition and currency.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Dino Katris said there were 4.5 grams of methamphetamine in two different bags, 9 Perc-30 pills and two blotter paper tabs of LSD.

“These counterfeit Perc-30s laced with Fentanyl are deadly, and my agency will stop at nothing to get these off the streets; drug dealers beware,” Antioch Police Chief Guttschow said.

Police arrested Joshua K. Garcia, 31, of Antioch, without incident.

Officers found $880 in cash in Garcia’s pocket and $385 in a container in his dresser, Katris said.

Garcia also had a dry-erase board affiliated with drug dealing and a digital scale.

Katris said that Garcia is a convicted felon and was on parole at the time of his arrest.

Garcia was released from prison in June 2021 for a methamphetamine delivery case in Lake County, state records show.

Officers also found a shotgun shell on the kitchen counter and 21 .22 caliber rounds.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and approved charges of three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

Garcia has been held in the Lake County Jail on a $750,000 bond since his arrest.

Court records show he pleaded guilty on Monday to one count of meth delivery, a Class 2 felony, in exchange for a four-year sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC). The rest of his charges were dismissed.

He will receive 693 days of credit for time served and his sentence will be served at 50% in accordance with truth-in-sentencing guidelines.
