An animal shelter in Huntley is asking for donations from the community after the shelter’s heating system went out and a pipe burst, causing flooding in the building.

Animal House Shelter, based in Huntley, said Thursday that it was a “tough day.”

The shelter’s floor heating system went out and a pipe burst, flooding parts of the building.

Animal House Shelter said they are dealing with expensive emergency repairs, potential electrical issues and icy parking lot conditions.

The dogs and cats in the shelter are dry and safe.

The shelter said they are hopeful insurance will eventually reimburse them for the repair costs.

“We’re working around the clock to complete repairs, but we need help from our amazing community to get through this!” the shelter said on social media.

The shelter is asking for donations to help cover emergency repair costs, extra bedding and pet-safe salt.
