A 26-year-old man is in critical condition and had to be flown to the hospital after crashing a box truck into a tree, leaving him trapped in the wreckage, near Hebron Friday morning.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District responded around 7:15 a.m. Friday to the 11400 block of Price Road in unincorporated Hebron.

Emergency crews arrived to find a 2023 Isuzu box truck that crashed into a tree, according to sheriff’s officials.

The driver, a 26-year-old Hanover Park man, was trapped between one of the vehicle’s seats and the tree.

Firefighters extricated him from the vehicle and a LifeNet medical helicopter was called to the scene.

The helicopter flew the man to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he was listed in critical condition.

The sheriff’s office said a preliminary investigation shows the Isuzu was traveling eastbound on Price Road.
