The sheriff’s office cited five clerks at Lake County establishments for illegally selling alcohol to minors during an undercover compliance check, officials said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office routinely conducts alcohol compliance checks at Lake County liquor-selling establishments.

The compliance checks are designed to ensure businesses vending alcohol are not selling to anyone under the age of 21, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli.

The sheriff’s office tested 55 establishments and five sold alcohol to someone under the age of 21.

Three of the five establishments were located in Beach Park.

Clerk Vipin Joy, who works at Mobil at 37740 North Sheridan Road in Beach Park, was cited along with Manjod Siengh, who is a clerk at Sheridan Liquor at 39172 North Sheridan Road in Beach Park.

The two other establishments included the Citgo at 41490 Route 41 in Wadsworth and the Shell at 28787 North Waukegan Road in unincorporated Lake Bluff.

Leslie-Michelle Rivera-Casarrubias, who is a clerk at the Shell, and Ajmal S. Hussian, who is a clerk at the Citgo, were both cited.

The clerks in violation were ticketed for the offense of selling liquor to a minor.

They are required to appear in Waukegan court at a future date.

Notice of the violations was sent to each establishment’s respective liquor commission jurisdictions.

Those include the Beach Park, Wadsworth and Lake County Liquor Commissions.
